9 months old

Can you believe this kid is 9 months old! Time is flying by so quickly. I love seeing him change every day. He has now started to shake his head side to side when he is done with solids. It's cute and funny. I am still amazed with every change, big or small. He is becoming such a little man and I am looking forward to seeing him grow.

He has officially been "out" longer then he was "in". OMG!!

Some stats on Kalen @ 9 months:
- 4 teeth are through, top & bottom front teeth
- pulling himself up onto his knees all of the time
- says mama to most things
- can not sit still! He is all over the place all of the time
- does not like texture in his solids. He will eat the baby puffs but that is it all of the rest of his food is pureed
- just moved over to 6 to 12 month clothes. The shirts are fitting well but the pants are all long
- taking 2 to 3 naps a day that very anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours
- sleeps from 7-8pm to 8-9am. We have been driving M to work the last couple of weeks so we get up @ 6:30 drive him there. We are back home by 7, Kalen has a bottle then goes back to sleep until 9.

First Christmas

I have a funny feeling about this Christmas. I am not overly excited that it will be Kalen's first Christmas. I am excited for next Christmas and the ones after that where he will have more of an idea about what is going on.

I feel so weird wrapping presents that have been sitting on the table for a few weeks now. Kalen has no idea they are there. Will he have any idea when we are unwrapping them?

I love him and I am excited to celebrate the holiday with our families. I am however looking forward to dressing him up in his outfits that I bought him. I will make sure to take lots of pictures and share them.

First trip

This weekend we went to visit my brother and his family and Kalen did not do well. He played shy the whole time we were there and would only let myself, Grandma & Grandpa hold him. He cried anytime anyone else came to close. I think it's just him playing shy because he does not see them very often. Hopefully he will get over this faze soon!

On the way there I took out my camera and got some pictures of him. They are great if I do say so myself. Here are just a few, have I mentioned that he loves getting his picture taken!
This was also his first weekend in his new car seat. I decided that it would be great if we used the new car seat to go there then M could take out the old base while we were gone (M stayed home to have some boy time with his friends). Kalen did okay in the new seat but I think he was having a hard time adjusting to being in such a sitting position rather then laying back. I think he will do fine after he has a bit of time.

8 months old

Kalen is all over the place now that he can army crawl. He is SO active and just does not stop moving. We are taking baby & me classes right now and it's so funny to see him with other babies. He is by far the most active baby in class. A few of the moms have commented to me about how he does not sit still and how much work he is. I do have a bit of envy, I wonder what it would be like to have a baby that is content to lay on he floor and play with the toys for a while or one that can sit on my lap for an extended period of time happily.

Kalen has almost mastered sitting on his unassisted. He does well until he wants something that is not within reach. When he leans to get whatever it is that caught his eye he falls over in that direction. I am trying to make sure there is nothing within close range of him but he has hit his head a couple of times. He has started to learn to brace himself when he is falling but sometimes it catches him off guard. Last night he was sitting unassisted in his room playing with a toy while I went to run him a bath and I could hear the thunk of his head hitting something. When I got back to him he was right next to his crib and had a nice mark on his forehead. It lasted for a few hours and you can still see a small mark today but he is fine. He was fine about 3 seconds after he hit it.

Kalen @ 8 months:
- sit unassisted
- army crawl
- 2 bottom teeth
- loves to move, move, move
- started to babble a lot more (up until now most of his communication he come in the form of a very loud shriek!)
- he hates getting his diaper changed although he does love being naked

We love you so much Kalen!!

Baby it's cold outside!

It's pretty cold here so Kalen has been getting bundled up when we go out. Let me tell you this baby is VERY warm blooded. He is always boiling when I get him undressed afterwards. Doesn't he look so cute???? Love him :)

My dreams have been dashed

I am sure every girl in her mid twenties to early thirties had at least once dreamt about becoming Prince William's wife. I definitely did and sadly I was well into my early twenties still dreaming. So to all of those dreams I bid you good night. It was fun while it lasted ;)

Twitter

I am not really sure I understand the point of twitter. Facebook, Myspace you can connect with people on them. Find long lost friends, have conversations. Not on Twitter so why are people on twitter?? Well I am still not sure so I figured I would join in and see. You can find me @kalensmama.

Healing

I had my gall bladder out about a week ago. I am feeling pretty good now but when I push myself I can still feel it. I was finally aloud to remove my bandaging yesterday and it was not fun. I removed it in the shower and it hurt! Things look pretty good I would say other then I think one of the incisions is not closed. I am also extremely itchy and was up most of the night because of it. I have my follow up with the doctor in a couple of weeks so we will see what he has to say about the one I think is open.

My mom has been with me for the last week and it is so nice. I love not being by myself all the time. I now that I am not actually alone as I am always with Kalen but I am a talker and I well it's just not as much fun talking to the little one that can't talk back.

I think M is going to miss my mom even more then I am. The last few days she has been making us dinner. I am not a cook, I can cook but I don't like to and I am just not very creative when it comes to cooking. M came home yesterday to ribs and rice and proceeded to tell me how he was bragging all day at work about his dinner that evening, he was so excited. Almost makes me want to start cooking for him so he can brag that his wife is cooking for him not his mother-in-law, ALMOST. I will admit that the ribs were awesome and did not bother my tummy (post gall bladder eating can be interesting if you are not careful).

New milestones

Kalen has started to sit on his own lately. He can only sit for about a minute or so before he topples to one side but we are so proud that he can do it.

He has also recently started to crawl. It's not a full blown regular crawl but he can get anywhere he wants to go and it is SCARY! It's pretty funny to watch him make his way where he wants to go. He gets on his hands and knees like he is going to crawl and then he sort of launches himself forward. For the most part he is still using his hands to pull himself forward and shimming like a worm but it works for him.

No great pictures yet but I will try to get some soon. Here is what I have gotten.

Our little computer whizz

Kalen discovered his love for the computer over the last little while so today I turned it off and let him have some fun pressing the keys. I think we have a future computer whizz kid on our hands.

New house

We are here!!! It was a long stress filled road but we are finally in our new home and it was all worth it. The house is still a mess as we unload but I thought I would add some pictures from our move. There are only a few but I hope you enjoy.
Our old living room... all the items starting to stack up to be moved
All of the boxes stacked in the dining room
The crazy that was the kitchen the night before
The first load from the truck
The items starting to stack up in the new house
The first night in the new house, trying to unpack
More boxes filling the kitchen
Will the boxes ever end???

I will post more pictures later when the house is at least close to being completed.

First Halloween

Tonight was Kalen's first halloween and it was not much of a night. Kalen is still feeling under the weather so walking around the new neighborhood was out of the question. We stayed in and only dressed up for a minute.
Such a cutie
Kalen was pretty tired at this point
Kalen loves the camera
