5 months old

Kalen turned 5 months old today and to celebrate he was a special treat. His teething took a new turn today and he was at times inconsolable. Nothing was working and I had to breakout the tylenol twice. Poor baby you can see how much he is hurting and I feel so bad for him.

He also decided today was a good day to start rolling from front to back. It seems that when he is in a good mood and playing he has no problem rolling from front to back but as soon as his mood turns sour he totally forgot he was able to do it and freaked out. He just started today so I am sure with time he will be rolling both ways like a champ.

To top of the evening Kalen decided to christen the bathtub with a #2. I was horrified and had no idea what to do. Normally I don't have a problem with his poo but seeing it floating in the tub totally grossed me out. He of course looked very pleased with himself.

Kalen rolled before I could take his picture.... goofy

(he has had some diaper rash for the past few days so we were having some bare bum time)

Reading his book..... so cute

Kalen is a big boy now

Kalen received this chair as a gift from one of my friends, isn't it cute! He is still having a bit of a hard time sitting in it but I was able to grab a couple of shots the other day.

Here he is sitting on his own. It was only for a minute or so but he is starting to be able to hold himself up

Straps... I guess we are at that stage

I guess we will need to start strapping Kalen into things now that he is a rolling maniac.

I walked away from him for 2 minutes to go warm a bottle and he started getting really fussy. When I peaked around the corner to try and talk to him while I was making the bottle (he can see me when I peek around the corner from our kitchen). This is what I found. I ran over to him and then decided it was funny and I needed pictures..... then I picked him up. One of the best parts was that the swing was in full swing mode so it was going at a good speed..... poor Kalen! Lesson learned.

Weird

I am not sure what is going on with Kalen. I am thinking he must be hitting a big growth spurt. On Saturday he was super cranky at his great-grandma's 90th birthday. I felt so bad for him, you could tell he was SO tired but there was way to much going on for him to sleep. When we finally left he crashed.

We then had dinner with M's mom and sister to celebrate M's 28th birthday and Kalen was either sleeping or crying. When we finally got home for good Kalen passed out at 9:45 and slept straight through to 7am and then went back to sleep after his morning bottle until 10. We were supposed to go to a family reunion on Sunday but with the way Saturday went we decided that Kalen needed us to stay at home and just hang out. He ended up sleeping a good portion of the day and falling asleep around 10pm and slept right through the night.

Once again today, Monday, he slept most of the day. He was up for about 45 minutes to an hour at a time, then sleeping for an hour or two. He drank all of his bottles dry, for the last few weeks he has been leaving close to an ounce in each so that is a big thing in itself. He also has had some minor diarrhea, nothing to crazy but he has had poop at every diaper change today and they were not very nice looking.

I am hoping it is just a growth spurt. I keep checking his temperature and it is normal so lets hope this growth spurt passes soon.

Oh what a difference one year can make

This is the first positive test we had ever gotten. Hard to see the second line but it is there.

July 31st, 2009 was the best day of my life, up to that point anyways. That is the day we found our we were expecting a baby and that our dreams were finally coming true.

It has been one year since then and boy how life has changed. Kalen is such a good baby and we are so blessed to have amazing people in our lives that not only love us but love our little boy to death.

I was so sure on that day one year ago that life was playing some horrible trick on us and we were not actually pregnant. It turns out that that line turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to us.
As you can see I had a very hard time believing that we were actually going to be parents. We got our first positive pregnancy test on 11 days past ovulation which is really early so I had to keep testing.... I actually tested everyday until 15 dpo just so I could make sure the second line was still there..... hahaha

Motherhood and parenting in general can be a trying time but it is all SO worth it everytime he smiles or belts out a huge laugh. He is amazing and we love him.
