He's growing

Kalen had a check up today and he is growing like a weed. He is 4 weeks 1 day old today. He was 6 pounds 3 ounces and 20 inches long. Good job buddy!

3 weeks old

Wow how time flies. I can't believe Kalen is 3 weeks old already. I am so happy that he is here with us. He is such a good baby.

M and I are going on our first "date" tomorrow night. I think it will be nice to have some couple time but I am willing to bet we won't have much to talk about other then Kalen. Oh how life has changed. I am really looking forward to eating some really good food that I have not had for a while, butter and steak SOOOO excited.

We went for a visit at a friends house today. It was so good to get out. Her daughter is 6 and a half months old now and definitely developing her own little personality. I can't wait for Kalen to do more then eat and sleep. I am so excited for play dates where Kalen can actually play.

Due date

Happy Due date to us. Kalen is 2 weeks and 6 days old already and I can't believe how quickly time is flying.

When I look at my baby today I think about the fact that he was born so small. I am so sad when I think about how I failed him. It was my job to make sure that he was taken care of for those nine months and I did not do that. I know that it was not my fault that I had so many issues but I can't help but feel like I failed him.

I never imagined that I could love someone so instantly and so intensely. I am going to try my best not to fail him again. I know that's a lot to want as we all make mistakes and being a first time parent is one big test but I am going to try.

I love you Kalen! Daddy and I are both so happy to have you in our life.

Oh what a beautiful baby

Our little boy came home yesterday. It was the most scared and excited I have ever felt. He is still so small but he is doing so well and we are so lucky that he is happy and healthy.

He is a pretty good sleeper. He eats about every 3 hours, gets his diaper changed and then he sleeps. I am sure this will not last for long so we are going to have to take every advantage we can while we can.

Sam & Jack, our cats, are both handling everything really well. Sam was interested in finding out what was going on and now he appears to be fine with Kalen. Jack on the other hand is taking his time trying to figure out what is going on. He has sniffed Kalen a couple of times but for the most part he is still on edge about everything. I am sure he will be just fine if not in a few days then in a few weeks.

So far everything is going pretty well. I am tired but I feel good and I am excited to start this adventure of motherhood.
